Lynchburg Area YMCA members now have some new cutting-edge technology for their workouts.
YMCA of Central Virginia staff, volunteer board members, and Y members kicked off the unveiling of new EGYM smart strength equipment this past Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and onboarding celebration, complete with giveaways and prizes.
EGYM technology allows the user to work with a qualified trainer to cater a workout that best suits that person's body. EGYM is a personalized, full-body strength training experience that uses the latest technology to make working out fun, fast and effective for everyone.
EGYM experts from Chicago came for the week to provide support, expertise, and training for YMCA staff.
"EGYM adjusts to your body type," said Jay Parker, YMCA of Central Virginia CEO. "Each person receives a personalized assessment through a digital body scanning process, and all twelve machines adjust to fit the body type of the member working out." Parker shared that EGYM is available to all YMCA of Central Virginia members at no additional cost and is found at the Express YMCA in Lynchburg. "All you need is a Y membership, an email address, and the desire to be healthier and stronger to get started."
EGYM machines feature touchscreens with an interface like a video game that shows you how many reps to do, at what speed, and range of motion. The EGYM machines are arranged in a circuit, and a timer tells you when to change machines to ensure an entire workout in under 45 minutes. These machines are incredibly easy to use because they're personalized to you.
