Nestled in the historic district of downtown Lynchburg, the Downtown YMCA offers a unique blend of modern fitness amenities and classic charm. Enjoy our updated fitness area, aquatics center with sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, racquetball courts, and convenient child watch hours. Our downtown Lynchburg gym on Church Street brings cardio equipment, free weights, strength training, a cycle studio, group exercise classes, basketball, and pickleball under one roof.

If you want a Lynchburg gym with a pool, there are two here: a lap pool and a family pool. After a workout, our gym with a sauna, steam room, and Recovery Lounge gives you room to unwind. The Downtown Y has been building community since 1956, with 11 million visits and counting, and 41,000 swim lessons taught within these walls. Membership is for all, with financial assistance based on income and no fee to apply for it. I worked and worked out here for a number of years. There are a wide variety of programs and exercise classes, and the free weights area is great, although sometimes it can get a little cramped at peak hours. They are continually working on expanding and updating their facilities, and I absolutely love the pools.

Really nice local YMCA with lots of amenities, classes, and reduced membership programs that are very easy to take advantage of. People will complain that the equipment is old - but just because it isn't shiny doesn't mean it's broken (: love how quaint it is. Employees are all very kind. What a value! For no additional costs, there are a large number of wonderful weekly group exercise classes. I've been taking "Strength and Strides" and "Sunrise Yoga" at the Downtown Y with Jan B., an excellent leader, and those very much fit my needs and time schedule.
