Boxing Classes for Parkinson’s at the YMCA of Central Virginia are part of the nationally recognized Rock Steady Boxing program. This non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness program is designed to improve the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Held at the YMCA on Old Forest Road, participants build strength, speed, and flexibility with expert coaching, all while enhancing daily function. This supportive program helps individuals fight back against Parkinson’s through targeted workouts. Classes are ongoing, and new participants can join at any time.

ROCK STEADY BOXING Frequently Asked Questions

The program is open to anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, regardless of fitness level or stage of the disease. Classes are tailored to meet each participant’s needs.

Rock Steady Boxing classes are held at the YMCA on Old Forest Road. They take place during the following schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Pedaling for Parkinson’s takes place at the Jamerson Family YMCA on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM.

No prior boxing or fitness experience is necessary. The program is non-contact and focuses on improving movement, balance, and strength, with trained coaches guiding every step.

The program is offered through the YMCA, and financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Contact the YMCA for specific pricing and financial assistance information.
