Ride The Blue Ridge Parkway

Join us on May 18, 2025, for the 16th annual Storming of Thunder Ridge, a breathtaking ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia. Choose from routes ranging from 27 to 100 miles, each offering camaraderie, scenic views, and a challenge fit for every rider. Whether tackling the rolling hills or conquering the 13-mile ascent to Apple Orchard Mountain, this ride is fully supported with rest stops, SAG support, and cue sheets. Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Central Virginia’s Annual Fund, helping ensure that no one is turned away due to financial hardship.

STORMING OF THUNDER RIDGE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You can choose from 27, 45, 49 (Mountain Loop), 75, and 100-mile routes, each offering a unique experience for cyclists of all levels.

Yes! The event includes fully stocked rest stops, cue sheets, SAG support, and monitoring along the route.

All rides start in Lynchburg, VA, except for the Mountain Loop, which starts and finishes at Sedalia Center.

Registration fees vary based on the route and registration time. Check the event site for the latest pricing details.

Proceeds from Storming of Thunder Ridge benefit the YMCA of Central Virginia’s Annual Fund, which helps provide financial assistance to those in need.

We hold a block of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lynchburg, VA. The rate for rooms booked under the block is $134.00 per night and includes breakfast.
