Whether you’re fostering a child or seeking financial assistance, the process to qualify is simple and straightforward. How To Qualify

Foster Families Scholarship

A family who is fostering a child in the Commonwealth of Virginia will receive a 50% discount on a family membership at the YMCA. No joining fees or contracts are required.

Stop by any YMCA of Central Virginia location with a current Foster Care Agreement.
Join online through one of the links below. You must bring your current Foster Care Agreement to one of our locations within 30 days for your discounted membership to remain active.

Financial Assistance

Getting started with financial assistance is simple! Follow these steps to join the YMCA at a rate that works for you:

Select Your Home Branch: Choose a YMCA Family Center to be your “home” location.
Provide Income Verification: Bring one of the following:
- 1040 Tax Form (2022 Adjusted Gross Income on Line 11)
- Form 4506-T (IRS Verification of Non-filing Letter, if you don’t file taxes)
- Documentation for all income earners in your household
Fill Out Your Information: Complete the application form online or in person.
Start Using Your Membership: Begin enjoying your YMCA Membership the same day! Income verification is required every two years to maintain your rate.
