Jiu Jitsu Overview
Youth Jiu-Jitsu at the YMCA is the perfect way for kids ages 5–12 to build confidence, learn self-defense, and stay active — all in a supportive and structured setting. These beginner-friendly classes are designed to teach the fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu while helping kids improve balance, coordination, and strength. Whether your child is completely new to martial arts or just looking for a fresh challenge, this program is a fun, safe way to grow physically and mentally.
What to Expect
Led by experienced and encouraging instructors, each class combines individual drills with partner work to teach age-appropriate techniques in a positive environment. Kids learn how to control movement, focus their energy, and practice new skills with guidance and encouragement. Our instructors create a space where every child feels welcome — no matter their fitness level or experience. Classes follow a structured format with warmups, technique practice, and cool-downs to keep kids engaged and moving from start to finish.
